Our Work / Strategic Plan

Our Strategic Direction

In June 2026, the Task Force adopted a three-year strategic framework developed with input from our Action Team chairs, Task Force leaders and members, and with the support and guidance of the Ohio Department of Behavioral Health.

Strategic direction

Where We're Headed

By 2030, the Task Force will have used its expanded statewide network to shift how perinatal behavioral health is talked about, across the care continuum and in communities, so that more people seek, receive, and stay engaged with care.

Why This, Why Now

This is a focus moment.

The Task Force built a 600-member network in a remarkably short time by working across the full breadth of perinatal behavioral health. The next chapter calls for depth instead of breadth.

The network is the strategy.

A campaign carried into waiting rooms, faith communities, and family networks by the people who are already trusted there will do more than any campaign we could buy.

Communication can shape the care experience.

Clear, thoughtful language and questions can make it easier for mothers to share what they are experiencing and get connected to support.

Four Priorities

Four priorities carry our three-year strategy.

Involve: build engagement and participation.

The people and relationships that make everything else possible, from the 600-member network to the parent and family voices that keep the work authentic to the partners who expand our reach.

Identify: determine where action will advance outcomes.

Defining and elevating the information, experiences, and data that show us where awareness and access efforts will land hardest.

Inform: create and share resources that build understanding.

Generating, translating, and spreading knowledge, using the network itself as the channel.

Implement: accelerate adoption of better practice.

Equipping the providers and systems that touch mothers to screen more consistently, respond more effectively, and connect people to support.

What's Happening Now

The current work turns the strategic framework into visible, practical action across Ohio.

  • Launching the More to Our Story public awareness campaign
  • Seating the Advisory Committee and transitioning the Action Teams
  • Building the member toolkit for social, waiting rooms, and community events
  • Collecting stories from mothers and caregivers across Ohio
